Product Description
NewCarb™ Ultimix lost circulation material (LCM) is a coarse ground pure calcite/marble with a hardness (Mohs) of 2 or higher. It is screened to an exacting particle size distribution over a specified range.
Benefits
When used in combination with more finely ground grades of NewCarb™ LCM, the versatile NewCarb Ultimix can increase formation integrity.
Application
NewCarb Ultimix LCM is designed for plugging fractures in sandstone formations and fractures or vugs in limestone or dolomite formations. It is particularly helpful in sealing induced fractures created by excessive formation integrity test pressures in sandstones. As marble is highly acid soluble, it is safe to use in the production intervals.
Treatment Recommendation
NewCarb Ultimix LCM is normally applied in pill form at concentrations of 25-50 lb/bbl. For the most effective sealing, a 1:1 ratio of NewCarb Ultimix and NewCarb™ Medium (M) LCMs should be used. Care must be exercised when pumping these pills through a bit, as plugging of openings of approximately 3/64” could be expected.
NOTE: The most important aspect of combating lost circulation is particle size distribution. Consequently, it is recommended that a combination of materials be added to ensure a good particle size distribution (PSD).
PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION
Typical particle size distribution is 98% passing 40 mesh (425 microns) and 80% retained on 200 mesh (75 microns).
