Product Description
NewPHPA™ shale inhibitor and rheology modifier is a liquid polymer emulsion additive designed primarily to provide shale stability, lubricity and viscosity in water-based drilling fluids. It is a high molecular weight, anionic polyacrylamide.
Benefits
Shale Inhibition: coats drill cuttings and allows for their removal by the solids control equipment before becoming dispersed in the active drilling fluid system
Viscosity: aids in hole cleaning
Flocculation: enhances the removal of drill solids
Lubricity: enhances performance and reduces torque and drag
Application
NewPHPA shale inhibitor and rheology modifier can be used in freshwater, seawater and sodium or potassium chloride brines, and is very effective in sweeps to aid in hole cleaning.
Treatment Recommendation
The NewPHPA polymer is used in concentrations of 0.2-2.0 lb/bbl (0.02-0.24 gal/bbl). A concentration of 0.1 gal/bbl is normally recommended. It can be added slowly through the hopper, to the pit or down the drill pipe during connections. The container should be thoroughly agitated before product use.
