Product Description
NewSeal™ lost circulation material (LCM) consists of deformable carbon particles selectively sized to efficiently plug porous formations and control wellbore seepage loss in all types of drilling fluid systems.
Benefits
- Application in all drilling fluid systems (water-, synthetic-or oil-based)
- Temperature stability
- No expanding or swelling
- Neutral pH
- No adverse effect on fluid rheology
- Zero detrimental effect on electrical stability in synthetic- or oil-based systems
Application
NewSeal LCM can be used in any drilling fluid, regardless of base fluid. It is particularly effective in reducing spurt loss, filtrate volume and PPT values. The product may be used in lost circulation pills or to treat the entire system. When used to treat the entire system, typical concentration is 5-15 lb/bbl. The product is effective when used alone, but good results have been achieved in combination with CyberSeal™, DynaFiber™ or NewCarb™ LCMs.
Treatment Recommendation
The prescribed amount of NewSeal LCM is added directly to the active system as follows:
Synthetic-based: | up to 40 lb/bbl |
Diesel- or mineral oil-based: | up to 25 lb/bbl |
Water-based: | up to 15 lb/bbl |
NOTE: The most important aspect of combating lost circulation is particle size distribution. Consequently, it is recommended that a combination of materials be added to ensure a good particle size distribution (PSD).

Handling and Storage
Exercise caution when handling near electrical circuits, as NewSeal conducts electricity. Keep dust out of eyes to avoid mechanical irritation. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from ignition sources and strong oxidizing agents. Use appropriate hygiene, clothing and personal protective equipment suitable for work being done. Review the SDS thoroughly before using this product.
Packaging
NewSeal LCM is available in 50-pound (22.7-kilogram) multi-walled bags.
