Site Preparation

After we conduct a thorough preplanning site assessment to understand the topography, soil conditions, drainage, and any environmental or regulatory factors that may affect the project, we work with you to prepare and execute a detailed right-of-way clearing plan, including but not limited to:

• Clear existing structures, debris, trees, shrubs, vegetation, or other obstacles within the ROW through mowing, cutting, trimming, hauling, or removal
• Light grading to ensure proper grading for drainage and foundation stability
• Determine native soil-bearing capacity for matted access consideration
• Comply with environmental regulations, including permits for activities that may impact natural habitats or waterways
• Implement erosion control measures, often bundled with our Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan
• Establish access roads and pathways for construction equipment and personnel
• Implement safety protocols, including the installation of safety barriers, signage, and protective gear to minimize accidents
• Designate and construct areas for storing construction materials and equipment

Managing overhead obstacles, traffic flow, and terrain issues is critical to effective planning and transportation management. Overhead obstacles, such as bridges and power lines, must be carefully considered to ensure the safe passage of vehicles and workers.  Traffic flow optimization is essential to prevent congestion and promote efficient movement within the job site.  We have certified traffic control representatives for road loading and unloading of material and equipment, which involves regular inspections, maintenance, and, in some cases, height restrictions for tall vehicles.

Terrain issues, including steep slopes and flood-prone areas, demand thoughtful planning and engineering solutions from our dedicated engineers.  Proper drainage systems and flood control measures are essential for areas susceptible to heavy rainfall or flooding, where DURA-BASE truly shines.  In hilly terrain, the design of roads and pathways must consider gradients and safety precautions to ensure accessibility for all.  DURA-BASE affords 91 sq ft of usable surface area to construct custom passing lanes and turnaround areas to reduce the overall number of mats needed for a project.
