The HydrosTM high-performance water based drilling fluid system is highly versatile, suitable for a wide range of drilling challenges found in conventional wells from onshore to ultra-deepwater. Hydros is engineered with sustainable chemistry is designed to reduce overall wells costs and improve the ESG profile of operations.
- Superior inhibition: Hydros’s blend of proprietary inhibitors provide enhance drilling performance through the most challenging of shale sections.
- Navigating tight drilling windows: Formulated for highly overbalanced or depleted formations, Hydros can be engineered to minimize fluid loss to reduce the risk of differential sticking, or be enhanced with engineered wellbore strengthening additives to provide assurance when drilling through depleted zones
- Simple: Small number of key additives and supplemental products reduces pressure on logistics and makes the Hydros system easy to engineer.
- Economical: Hydros provides the performance of industry standard High Performance Water Based Mud, typically at a lower cost/bbl than Non-Aqueous systems and ‘Best in Class’ DeepDrill HPWBM.
- Sustainable: Blend of specialized additives selected for low environmental impact as well as performance – Hydro can be used in the most environmentally sensitive drilling areas.
- Robust: Hydros is resistant to the most common of contaminants encountered while drilling, reducing treatment costs and improving drilling performance.
Key applications: Conventional land, offshore, and deepwater drilling (note: does not provide hydrate inhibition). Depleted Sands and reactive formations.

Temperature rating (max): 300°F (150°C)
Key performance characteristics: Inhibition provided through chemical shale inhibitors (HydroDrill and Newperm) and encapsulation (HydroFilm), NanoStable used for wellbore strengthening applications. Lubricant (EcoLube ES or LG) used to reduce toque and drag.
Performance rating: Excellent. Good levels of inhibition suitable for most reactive formations, resistant to anhydrite contamination, effective in depleted zone drilling applications. Lower cost/bbl than premium DeepDrill system.
